The three witches, otherwise known as the three Weird Sisters, play a very significant role in the play. What do you think about that? How does that impact your ability to take the play seriously? Do you or did you ever believe in ghosts? witches? Have you ever been affected by something you can't explain?
In the play Macbeth three witches have a large role in the play. I think that this will create an interesting character to watch throughout the book and see how they effect all of the other characters. This will not effect the what i view the play because have a funny or odd character is not always the worst, it will create a funny addition to Shakespeare, Macbeth. I do not believe in ghosts, i do believe that people have a side to them that is not always a physical body such as a soul but the way comics and TV portrays ghost is not the way i view them. I don't believe in witches either because they are mystical magicians which can't be realistic. I have not been effected by things i can't explain.
ReplyDeleteI think that three witches having a main role in the play Macbeth will make the story much more interesting. It will put a whole different view on the play. It does effect my ability to take the play seriously because, I don't believe in witches, so now I will just be reading the play and think nothing of it. I probably won't be believing anything that is mentioned in the book, because I know that it is a play and not real. I don't believe in ghosts either, and I never have, and I have not been affected by things that I can't explain.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think that having the witches in the play will affect my ability to take the play seriously. If anything it will make the play much more interesting. Also reading Oedipus helped me be more accepting to unusual things in plays. I think that having the witches in the play will make the play much more interesting than Romeo and Juliet. I used to believe in ghost when I was younger, but I don’t anymore, same with witches. I haven’t really been affected by something I can’t explain.
ReplyDeleteI think the three witches act more as an entertaining part of the play, to make it more interesting. Although they play a large part in the play, I think they were written in to appear to a wider audience. Although it won’t be realistic, the three witches will help the play move along and will make it less boring then other Shakespeare plays. I think the witches help move the play along and will help keep the audience interested in the play. When I was younger I believed in goats, because my brother tricked me into thinking they were real, but I don’t believe in them now. I have never been affected by something I can’t explain.
ReplyDeleteShakespeare likely chooses to have the witches play a significant role in Macbeth because he wants his audience to think Macbeth is not a serious play. However, from prior knowledge, I know that Macbeth ultimately becomes a violent and serious play so I will still take the play seriously. Indeed, I think that Shakespeare’s goal is to have the audience perceive the play as make believe and then suddenly switch to a more serious theme. When I was younger, I believed in ghosts and monsters and were scared at nights as I thought they were hiding under my bed. As I matured, I realized ghosts and monsters do not exist! In addition, as a child, I believed in witches, but I ultimately realized that they also do not exist. I can remember times in my life when I see/hear something but I can not explain the feeling to someone else. For example, I remember hearing a knocking sound in my room but whenever I try to tell someone, the knocking sound stops!
ReplyDeleteI think that for me at least the witches playing such a significant role makes me not take it as serious. I don't believe in that type of stuff, so when its put into a writing it makes me not want to take it as serious and think of it more as something that is made up instead of being real. I think I will keep it in the back of my mind thoughout the whole book and sort of know that it isnt totally real but there are some parts that could be.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe in witched, I think that the the idea is crazy that people killed suspected witches. I on the other hand to not believe in ghost but do not discredit people that do. I know a lot of people that believe in ghosts. I know I will be able to look past my beliefs to thoughtfully read this book.
ReplyDeleteIf you know me, you know I believe in magic and all that jazz. Mostly just magic. Really, I don't believe in magical creatures, just magic. And not like wizard hats and magic wands, just magic. Like foresight, when I was a little kid, I remember this one time I was at the beach. And I was thinking "Some people have really swollen puffy lips. Maybe they get hit in the face and now they'e like that forever" and then a kite string hit me right in the lips and I was like "Damn, now i have puffy lips forever". I don't think I ever really believed in witches and stuff. Ghosts, I kinda believe. I can take the play seriously because it was a long time ago, back when they believed in all sorts of weird things.
ReplyDeleteI used to be so scared of ghost and witches. I would cry every night because I thought my house was haunted. I feel like this book will bring back bad memories. I hope I will be able to look past this to appreciate the book.
ReplyDeleteHaving three weird witches play a significant role in the play makes me really excited to start reading. I love the whole concept of witches and there powers so being able to read something thats main focus is on them is amazing. Although it does mean I wont take the play as seriously as I would if the charters were all human I'm still going to be very interested in it. I do to some extant believe in ghost. I think there is some supernatural being out their but I don’t believe in witches although I think they are really cool. I’ve never been affected by something I can’t explain.
ReplyDeleteI think having three witches as main characters is a great idea for a scary play. It will not have an impact on my abilities to take the play seriously. When I was younger around age 7 I developed a strong belief in Ghosts and Witches. The first year we moved into our new house I was effected by something I can't explain. At the end of my backyard a massive graveyard starts. So one night about thirty minutes after I went to bed I felt something grab my left leg. I tried to get up but I couldn't, it felt like I was being pinned down. Adrenaline was pumping through me as I struggled get up. Eventually I felt it release, and then I got up and ran to my parents. I had many years of Nightmares after that experience. To this day I still have a slight belief in ghosts.
